The city of Rouen loves speed-boating and hosts one of the most important events in France. The 24-hour speedboat race of Rouen, commonly abbreviated as the “24 hours”. The competition is organized by the Rouen Yacht Club and this international race has been taking place every year since 1964.

Historically held on 30 April and 1 May, the 24-hour speedboat race is now held on a weekend. The departure takes place on a Saturday morning and the race ends the following.

More than 200 volunteers are involved in the organization of this international sporting event.

The free sporting event of international magnitude, is organized in the framework of the world endurance Championship. “24 hours” attracts about 400 000 spectators annually who observe the race from the banks and bridges crossing the Seine. The boats are listed according to three categories (S1, S2 and S3). The fastest can reach up to 225 km / hour. More than 20 nations are represented and the best drivers in the world are present in Rouen for the largest gathering of the world speedboat endurance.

The race is held on the Seine river around the Island Lacroix in Rouen. The winner is the one who has done the longest distance during its 24 hours.
