Dear Giardia and Cryptosporidium Researchers,We are proud to announce the VIIth International Giardia and Cryptosporidium Conference (IGCC) which will be held at Rouen University, Normandy, France from the 23th to the 26th of June, 2019. As we all know, the IGCC has become an established reference in the field of Giardia and Cryptosporidium studies. With the support of the international Scientific Committee, we intend to make every effort to host this high level event to the satisfaction of all. The deadline for registration with early bird fee is delayed until 21st march ProgramThe program will include keynote lectures by recognized experts in the field, workshops, and in addition, your communications may be displayed as poster exhibits and oral presentations to allow frank and fruitful discussion. Topics will include all aspects of host-parasite relationships (including microbiotic interactions), from basic research to applications in human and veterinary medicine; and not forgetting the environmental issues raised by waterborne parasites and their epidemiological “one health” consequences. OrganizersAs the organisers, we represent all French research teams currently involved in studies on human and veterinary Cryptosporidium/Giardia infections, and members of several public institutions. It is noteworthy that in France, recent food and waterborne outbreaks have attracted renewed interest in giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis from both the health authorities and the general public, further justifying our Conference here in Normandy. Which is an important farming and offshore fishing region, with an oceanic climate, karstic geology and coastal rivers. In the heart of NormandyWe are confident that Rouen, Normandy is the ideal location for the upcoming IGCC. Rouen is conveniently located close to air and rail links with other major cities in Europe and further afield. . Rouen University campus (30,000 students), the venue for the IGCC event, is located in the city center and within easy walking distance of city center accomodations and gastronomic restaurants. Rouen is strategically located on the river Seine between Le Havre and Paris which places it in a prime position to host the internationally renowned ARMADA Tall Ships event in June 2019. Rouen is not only a beautiful city in its own right, with its unique medieval architecture, but it is also a gateway to other parts of Normandy showcased by impressionist artists such as Monet, Pissarro and Gauguin. Best wishes L. Favennec Chair of the 7thIGCC |
