The city of Rouen in Normandy is surrounded by large forests. Forested areas represent a third of the surface area which is 25,000 m² and are made up notably of four state-owned forests (Verte Forest in Mont-Saint-Aignan or Bois-Guillaume, Le Trait-Maulevrier, Roumare, La Londe-Rouvray), where you can discover remarkable trees from the path. Three of them have also been listed as Exceptional Forests.
Maisons des Forêts centres in Rouen
To bring these spaces to life, the city of Rouen has equipped itself with suitable facilities: the forest activity centres, in Orival, Saint-Etienne du Rouvray and Darnétal. Throughout the year, teams of coordinators offer an events programme in connection with the fauna and flora of Normandy: night walks, creative workshops, exhibitions, school visits, initiation, eco-internships, nature discovery…
Ideas for family excursions with your children, the activity centres in the forests also have the task of maintaining and cleaning the forest areas and doing scientific counting. These sites are a must-see for all tourists in search of eco-tourism, green tourism and sustainable tourism.
